Sign near my office: College Hunks Hauling Junk. I find this to be an aesthetically appealing idea.

When I win the lottery? Never mind all those other things. I want a tailor and a cobbler. I want clothing made for MY body, tops that fit my shoulders and bust and arms, pants that fit my waist and my hips. And shoes! I would like just once to own a pair of shoes that fit correctly that aren't sandals with adjustable straps.

This year my grocery store has put the kosher-for-Passover Coke in the seasonal section, instead of on the shelf next to the regular stuff. It's well hidden, probably to keep people from picking it up casually. But I'm not casual about it. Coke made with sugar instead of corn syrup is so much better, and it bugs me that I can only get it for a couple of weeks a year, and only then with accompanying guilt because it's not meant for me. And Canada is a little too far for me to smuggle regularly.

Melissa brought me a gift that she picked up when she was in China a few years ago. It's a penguin, of course. It was carved out of a single piece of wood. And it's a bowl hanging in a stand.

Folded flat:

Opened up:

Now I need to find somewhere to put it. And something to put in it.

All those who like Passover Coke are nominated as honorary Jews... so don't worry, they do make it just for you... :)

Re clothing if you haven't heard of them already
They have _saved_ my wardrobe. And they always send out fantastic coupons.

For shoes, I strongly recommend endless.com. They have free 2 day shipping and free returns, and they have a standardized set of views of a shoe so that you can see the sole straight on, and the rise, etc. They also have great customization - I want shoes with ankle straps and heels between 1 and 2.5 inches, that fit wide and in specific colors and in a price range I can afford. These are all search criteria.

At least some costcos have started stocking mexican coke, which is also made from real sugar. Worth a shot, as long as you or someone nearby has a costco membership.

Ooh! That would be nifty. I'll check that out next time I'm there, thanks.

Our beer distributor in Doylestown has been stocking the Mexican Coke, as well. We've already been through a case. Apparently, he got in a bunch of cases for someone who wanted it and it's been selling really well. So, good chance it'll continue being stocked.

Are penguins your critter?

And yeah - man, custom made shoes are my fantasy. I have had exactly one pair of shoes that fit me perfectly and I have no idea what happened to them during my last move. :( My tiny feet were tres' sexy in those tiny boots...

Penguins are indeed my critter. I am not a penguin, mind you. I am a cat. A specific cat, in fact. His name is Alex, he belongs to my friends, and he and I very clearly share the same personality.

The penguin thing comes from the church choir I grew up in. Their robes are black and white, and when they go down from the choir loft to Communion, they look like a flock of penguins waddling down the aisle. So penguins became the symbol for the choir, and between my mom and her best friend (Melissa's mother) and then between Melissa and me.

Then my college friends learned about it, because my childhood stuffed animal that I slept with right up until I had a live-in boyfriend was a penguin knitted by my mom. And once a bunch of people know something, it's forever. So I've kept the theme.

I now have something like 14 or 15 stuffed penguins, of at least three recognizable species as well as "generic penguin". Half a dozen ceramic penguins, penguin Christmas ornaments, four or five penguin mugs, a penguin Advent calendar... All of these were gifts.
