I keep thinking I'm going to write full-length posts for some of the things I've been doing, but it's just not happening. So, then, here's the essence of it:

Where I've been )

Where I'm going )

and other random stuff )

weekend review )

How the time does fly... )

In summary: It may not all be good, but at least it's good enough.

This weekend was the DC dinner party, a repeat of last year's exciting event. So, I went, had a reasonable time, met some cats, and came home. )

Well, I did eventually make it safely home last night, although not nearly as quickly as I might have liked. I'd really like to know what was going on in Albany this weekend, though. Traffic and talking, that's all there was... )

It was clearly a sign of impending bad luck for my weekend when Thursday afternoon I started to notice the early symptoms of a head cold. But I didn't let that stop me from going away and having fun - mostly. )

These things do happen, in casinos... )

A question for gamers - looking for some feedback. )

I spent most of last weekend in the DC area. For reference, most of the cast of characters are the same as those from the dinner party in April.

MD Ren Faire and leather )

A couple of days of vacation )

Friday night I made what may perhaps have the best decision I've made in ages. It had been a hectic day at work, and I knew the weekend was going to be pretty crazy. So, instead of packing and leaving as soon as possible after work, I took a nap for about an hour, and then took a shower, before collecting my things and getting on the road.

The rest of the weekend turned out a little like an LJ-roll call. )

Last night as I was driving home, I saw a thunderstorm off to the left of the car. I was driving north, and it was traveling from west to east, so it was approaching me. Initially I didn't think much of it. However, I was listening to a radio dramatization of The Hobbit. There's something a bit spooky about listening to Smaug chuckling and wreaking havoc, and then watching flashes in the sky come closer...

The weekend in reverse, since I began at the end )

So, Saturday I did end up going to Great Adventure after all. I still hadn't quite made up my mind at 8:45 that morning, while getting dressed and talking to [livejournal.com profile] blackfog and [livejournal.com profile] turtle_morn on AIM. But I did go, and had fun. )

I have read a fair number of Regency romances. One of the common entertainments described is the house party, where a number of couples and older singles would go visit at a friend's estate for several days or a week at a time. There would be a variety of amusements planned, and a fair amount of empty time for socialization. Neighbors would come for some of the activities, and then return home in the evenings.

Holiday weekends at [livejournal.com profile] blackfog and [livejournal.com profile] amy_pearlman's house in PA are not too different in concept from the Regency-era house party, I've come to believe.

So this is what happened this weekend. )

Meanwhile, the one thing I didn't manage to do when I meant to was to wish [livejournal.com profile] caniswolfie a very happy birthday. Hope he had one anyway.
