(no subject)

Do you ever think to yourself something along the lines of "Well, let's see. Everything is fine as long as I don't do X. X would be the stupidest thing I could possibly do." X is also something you wouldn't even have thought of doing if you hadn't thought about what the stupidest possible thing could be. Not even the worst thing, just the stupidest.

And then you do X, since you're thinking about it...

And then you sit around and wait for it to bite you on the butt, because you already know it probably will.

(This is along the lines of oidhche's hypothetical philosophical questions. I've done X once or twice lately, nothing important, cataclysmic or even particularly relevant, but it got me to thinking.)

This is a random memory apropos of absolutely nothing. I feel like telling stories, so I might do it more often. It's at least a little better than the five hundredth quiz about Which House Do You Belong To At Hogwarts.

When I was about 8 or 9, I asked for unicorn underwear for Christmas. Yes, I was a boring enough child to ask for underwear for Christmas. Still am.

I had a set of unicorn underwear already. They were white cotton panties with a unicorn print, one in blue, one in red, and one in purple. And my mom knew exactly what I meant when I put unicorn underwear on my wishlist.

She took an old rag and sewed undershirts and panties for my My Little Pony unicorns. I got them in my stocking. And at first I couldn't figure out what they were. Then I got the joke. And I couldn't figure out whether or not I was amused.

I did get the underwear I asked for, later on that day.
