This evening, I went to the grand opening of Drew's new concert hall. I still love dressing up and going out to concerts and shows. My parents may not have been very social people, but they took me and my brother to cultural events regularly, starting as soon as we were old enough to behave. In some ways, I feel more comfortable dressed formally and rubbing shoulders with trustees, than I am in most of the situations I encounter in my daily life. I went to chat with one of the professors during intermission, and she said she didn't recognize me at first, looking like a grownup. I was amused.

The acoustics in the new hall are, as advertised, incredible. All of the groups sounded great. I was particularly impressed by the Madrigals Singers - I'm used to hearing them in their old space, and this was much better. I was also reminded just how much I love a good bass. In this case, it was an instrument rather than a vocalist that impressed me.

I do hope to get to go to more performances there in the future.

In unrelated news, whatever the landlady's sons are smoking downstairs smells absolutely foul. And I wish they'd shut up, I'm ready to go to bed whenever it gets quiet.
