the mysteries of life

In today's mail, I received a confirmation of my registration for Balticon.

One might ask why I am receiving this today, when I registered two months ago. One might also ask why I am receiving a paper confirmation of an electronic registration and payment.

However, if there is one thing I have learned about this sort of event, it is that you don't ask. If you do, someone might tell you.

Besides, it's nice to get mail that actually has bearing on my life. The rest of today's mail: a credit card advertisement, a flyer for a clothing store which doesn't carry my size, and an advertisement for a dating service.

That's a typical Tuesday mailbox run for me.

I got my confirmation in yesterday's mail. My sole reaction was "Thank goodness, some sort of confirmation that I'm actually registered", cuz... there wasn't anything else.

There's a website where you can check to make sure the registration went through.

OH. Didn't know that :(

It's linked off the page before the registration page, or some such. Not particularly intuitive.

I notice most of the panels, events, whatever aren't listed yet either

Way too early for that. No con has them listed more than about two weeks out. Some don't get it done until a few days before.
