Christmas gifts

Dear friends and family (ok, so the family isn't reading the LJ, but still):
I love you all. This is why I want to buy you presents. However, I am a terribly uncreative person, and I rely mostly on wishlists. If you keep an Amazon wishlist, please update it, for my sake and that of anyone else as boring as me.
I do update my wishlist regularly, and I do use the priority labels. I know there are some things on it that I put there in 2000, so I certainly understand that on others' lists. But if there's nothing in the last year, it's hard to know if it's still current.
Meanwhile, if anyone has any idea at all what I can get for
oidhche, or what my office could get for my boss, please let me know.

Date: 2005-11-30 01:42 am (UTC)Boss ideas. Well, if your boss isn't in AA or something, a bottle of his favorite beverage. For example, my old boss liked tanqueray and his wife liked merlot so those were two easy drinks. A bottle of wine is always a good gift (lets face it, if your boss doesn't like it, he can always bring it to a party or pull it out for guests!).
One year my boss got some really nice glass paperweights from one of the employees. They're really nice, and they've been on his desk since then (and it was years before I started there, and she wasn't someone he was close to - turns out that he actually ended up liking having it... clear glass with some orange swirls through it, who would have thought?).
Do you know what music your boss likes? I recently found out that mine really likes the Rolling Stones and have been contemplating an album (with a conveniently placed return receipt!).

Date: 2005-12-08 04:49 am (UTC)A really spiffy gift basket usually goes for $50-100.
Is he the sort of guy who it would be acceptable to give a gift certificate for a massage? Lawyers are said to be under a lot of stress.
Is there a really nice restaurant that he's rather fond of? Perhaps a gift certificate so that he could go out.
Or tickets to a show! For $80 you can get some tickets to something :-)
